Dial Up Networking Configuration for Win95-98


This section is to help users install the Windows 95-98 Dial Up
Networking to connect to RCVideo's server. Take your
time and follow the instructions step by step. Depending
on your configuration, Windows might prompt you for
either your Windows 95 CD, or your Disks. You may want
to print this page.

1. Go to My Computer
2. Go to Control Panel - Double click on Networks
3. Configuration, Under Network Components Installed, the only two items
you need listed there is Dial up Adapter and TCP/IP
If Dial up Adapter is not listed, the do the steps listed below:

a. Click Add, and then select Adapter
b. Click on Add - Under Manufactures choose Microsoft
c. Under Network Protocols, choose Dial Up Adapter, the click OK
If TCP/IP is not listed, do the steps listed below:
a. Click on Add
b. Select Protocols and then click on OK
c. Under Manufacturers, choose Microsoft
d. Under Network Protocols choose TCP/IP
(these are the only two items that need to be in the configuration box,
remove all other items.)
4. Highlight Dial Up Adapter and click on Properties
5. Driver screen put a "X" in the box that says Enhanced Mode (32 and
16 Bit) NDIS DRIVER
6. Bindings screen put a "X" in the box that says TCP/IP
7. Click on Advanced
8. Under Advanced go to Properties and under Record a Log File Value
set it to NO
9. Under Use IPX Header Compression Value set it to YES
10. Configuration screen Highlight TCP/IP and click on Properties
11. IP Address screen select "X" in Obtain a IP Address Automatically
12. Wins Config check "X" in Use DHCP for Wins Res
13. Gateway should be blank
14. Bindings should be blank
15. Click on Advanced, under Property - Highlight NONE
16. Click on Net Bios, check mark "X" in I want to enable, if you do not
have net bios skip this step.
17. Click on DNS Configuration check mark in Disable DNS and the click OK
18. At the Restart of your Computer click YES. You must Restart your
computer before the settings take effect, and then click yes

Dial Up Networking
1. Click on My Computer and you should have a icon for Dial Up
Networking, open the dial up networking folder
(If you do not see the Dial Up Networking icon do the steps listed below)
a. Click on Start and choose Control Panel from settings menu
b. Double click on Add/Remove Programs - choose Windows setup
c. Click on Communications - click on details
d. Make sure the box to the left of Dial Up Networking is checked, and the
click OK twice
2. Double click on Dial Up Networking - Double click on Make a New
Connection and click Next
3. Type in the space for The Computer your Dialing type RCVideo OnLine,
the click Next
4. Area code leave Blank, telephone number type 455-2100 and then click
Next and finish
5. You should now see a icon on screen called RCVideo OnLine, right click
on that icon and go to properties.
6. On My Connection screen click on Server Types, this is very important
Remove all check marks except for TCP/IP, the only thing you need a
checkmark in is TCP/IP and click OK
7. Double click on the RCVideo OnLine icon
8. Connect screen type in your user name, example my e-mail address is
rsmith@rcvideo.com, so my user name would be rsmith
9. Type in your password and then click on Connect, this will connect you to
RCVideo OnLine's server.
10. Next you will double click on your browser, the most common browsers
are Netscape, or internet explorer.
